How to contour a face according to its shape

What is face contouring?

Face contouring is also known as sculpting technique: it is a modern makeup technique that puts the focus on certain features of the face to accentuate them more than other features.

Face contouring can modify unpleasant facial features by hiding them or lessening their shape such as shortening a long nose, or making a chubby face look slimmer.

A face contour is mainly a dark brown color that comes under the form of powder, cream or stick. This dark color is used to sculpt features you want to accentuate, or to lessen the appearance of features you don’t like.

Contouring is always associated with highlighting which is also a new makeup technique; highlighting emphasizes facial features by illuminating them, that’s why a highlighter comes always in a shiny light color.

Contouring a chubby face focuses on defining the forehead sides and the area under cheekbones in direction of the mouth. Contouring a thin face is made by applying the contour on the sides of the forehead and under the cheekbones, and by putting a lot of highlighter to make the face look fuller.
